Stepping into Glais House is like strolling through a gallery of cherished memories, a vibrant tapestry of our vibrant community's life and love. Our 'Walk of Memory' project began as a heartfelt connection during the challenging times of 2020.
Let's journey back to 2020, a time when our doors were closed due to the pandemic's grip. In the midst of these challenges, we sparked something beautiful with a single photograph.
Gathering our staff's creativity and a professional photographer's lens, we organised a memorable photoshoot for our residents. With excitement and laughter, our team pampered and prepared everyone, making it a day to remember. Families were really happy when we shared these moments and they absolutely loved the photos.
When we viewed the photographs together, one of our residents said; 'I look absolutely fabulous! This should brighten up a corridor for everyone to enjoy!’, - and she giggled.. Her joy sparked an incredible idea—a gallery of memories to give our corridors a spark of character.
From that moment, our 'photo memory gallery' took shape. Each photograph became a stitch in the fabric of our shared history. As residents and visitors wander through our corridors, they're greeted by these cherished photographs.
The response has been heartwarming—residents connecting with familiar faces, reminiscing, and sharing stories. It's a living history, a gallery of community spirit. It's more than just pictures; it's the heart of Glais House, a tribute to our shared moments and bonds.
As we continue this beautiful journey, adding new photographs of life and joy, we're thrilled to announce we will be holding an opening event in 2024, as an opportunity to celebrate the essence of Glais House Care Home and the vibrant lives that grace our corridors.
